Had a lovely stay. The gite is very comfortable and the atmosphere friendly and warm.
Lots of interesting places to visit, I think La Rochelle and Il de Ré were the best.
We would definately recommend the gite to friends and family.

A lovely gite for rest and relaxation with home comforts too!
A great pool area and warm pool.
Highlights of the holiday:
- Great cycling routes into the countryside - not too many hills!
- The Aquarium at La Rochelle. If you get there early, park at the aquarium - very cheap.
- Good beach at Chatelaillon
- Enjoyable days out at Niort and Rochefort

Have loved our time here in the Wheatfields. Very relaxing.
The pool has been gorgeous and we've enjoyed the calm and friendly atmosphere here. Very comfy beds too.
We loved and heartily recommend:
- Fouras
- St Jean D'Angely (market days bought town alive)
- Pretty Surgeres
- L'Auberge Voyageurs in Beauvoir sur Niort
-Seeing so many fields of bright yellow sunflowers
- Coulon & the Marais Poitevin
A boat ride care of the guides is both beautiful and entertaining.
Only comments otherwise are having a mirror on the wall opposite the driveway
would make getting out of the drive a less scarey process and a few more pieces of cutlery.
None of the above spoilt our time here, but since you asked for constructive crit we've duly provided them!!
Thanks for a fab week
Laura, Mark and Milo
The Phillips family,
PS. Jo & Danny were fab hosts too. If felt like they'd been doing it for years - naturals!!
Comment from Paul & Nicki: The first comment regarding the exit in 8yrs. We drive right hand drive cars ourselves and haven't had a problem in 9yrs! We've asked our neighbours about mounting a mirror and it's not possible, Sorry .... Jo & Danny were the couple who managed the place whilst we went away on holiday ourselves !!

4th - 18th August 2012
Truly wonderful and peaceful setting. We had a fantastic time in the Wheatfields gite, the kids loved the pool and making friends with the other children. The gite was comfortable and Paul and Nicki are great hosts. The area offers many different entertainment options, from the sea to castles to monkeys!

Great holiday, well equipped gite, friendly reception.
We enjoyed a good day out at the beach near Royan. For cloudy days a visit to the local chateau and St Jean D'Angely is a good day.
The pool has been wonderful and the childrens play area great.

Thanks for letting us stay. The gite was lovely and so was the pool. If you go to the Aquarium at La Rochelle (which is fantastic) get your tickets from the tourist information office and you will get straight it!!
We recommend anyone who stays goes to the 'Mouton Noir' on a friday night as there is a band playing and they do a 3 course meal for about 15 euros. Overall everything was great! Loved it!

ps. I loved playing with georgina & claudia for the time we had!

25th June - 9th July 2011
Fifth year coming and still having a great time. Pool was fantastic again especially with Lisa swimming & diving at last.
Good laugh was had with guests from the other gite.
Only managed to go to Rochefort for a day out. Sean & Lisa (& mom & dad) enjoyed the model boats at St Savinien. Also managed to see the lovely Chateau La Roche Courbon.
As always "The Allingtons" hospitality was second to none. Looking forward to seeing you next year.

Ooh la la !!
Thank you so much for yet another fabulous week in France.
Every year it gets harder to leave after such a great time. The horse riding was a day to remember, a great opportunity for the girls to hear & practice french - fantastique!! But the icing on the cake was the Halloween Party. Your pumpkin carving skills are first class & such stamina to do all 4. You're a star. See you next summer if not before.

28th August - 4th September 2010
We arrived tired and full of colds and sniffles, but we leave fully rested and in rude health!! (Although the fog this morning was a shock). Thanks for the warm welcome and for your kind advice and help all week (the loan of buckets and spades for trips to Fouras, Chattelaillon plage and Ile de Re was a lifesaver). We mainly relaxed in the gardens and by the pool (especially Lucy) enjoying the sun and the slower pace of life, but we do recommend lunch at the Auberge in Dampierre.
Thanks for a great stay.

Dear Nicola, Paul, Georgina and Claudia
Just a quick email to say a big thank you for another wonderful holiday experience, 2 weeks is definetly better than 1!!
We all had a truly great time and were quite emotional on the drive back to the airport.
We wish to all the best and look forward to coming back again "sometime". Love

Our holiday is coming to an end and we we would love to stay longer. We have enjoyed our time relaxing here. The sunsets have been wonderful along with the star gazing at night with a nice glass of red wine in one's hand. The BBQ Paul & Nicki arranged was wonderful and gave us the opportunity to meet James a Gerry and the kids (our neighbours for the next 2 weeks). The kids loved playing with their new friends and the pool and gardens. Thanks for Nicki and Paul for the advice on where to go and the odd phone call to book places. We recommend the restaurant at the fishing river 'Migre'. The kids loved the aquarium at La Rochelle and we liked the ports of Ile de Ré (Ars en Ré, La Flotte & St Martin) plus La Rochelle itself. We loved the beach at Chattellaillon plage and 'Le Grand Blue' restaurant which you can access direct from the beach. FANTASTIC

Thank you again for a great holiday, after 4 years coming here the sun actually shone all fortnight. Now we are convinced the pool is like a bath. Didn't really go anywhere apart from going to the pool - far too hot to go sightseeing (35°). Did manage to go to Puy du Fou which was great but recommend going on a cooler/overcast day. Also had great fun decorating the christmas tree!!!
Thanks again for your hospitality - see you again next year ....

Thank you for a wonderful holiday. You are a great family who provide a really welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The gites have everything and the pool is lovely. You have done a really good job with the gites and I will certainly be recommending them to friends and family when I get home. Hopefully we will be back to explore this wonderful region again.
We recommend the following:
- Le Repos des Hiboux!! - La Rochelle
- Fouras - Rochefort - Ile D'Oléron
- Royan - Saintes - St Jean D'Angely
and many smaller towns/villages (too many to mention)
Brian, Susan, Margaret, Rob & Charlotte (South Yorkshire)

Dear Nicky, Paul, Georgina and Claudia
Thank you for letting us stay and thank you for the eggs aswell. We loved the zoo at La Palmyre but we still feel sorry for the mad polar bear and the mad leopard. The pool was heavenly but only in a wetsuit. The aquarium in La Rochelle was quite good but Grace didn't like the tunnel of jellyfish. We thought the model museum was amazing, our favourite model was daddy ..... We also liked the boat trip and we saw a Kingfisher! We loved the weather from Wednesday onwards.
From Louise, Wilf, Grace & Jack (Rothwell family, Kent)

Note from Nicki: Having heated the pool prior to their arrival, we then had a week of horrible cold, rainy weather which significantly reduced the heat in the pool .... Sorry, we can't control the weather but I am glad you still enjoyed your holiday!!
